Casablanca Stock Exchange Weekly Update: Minimal Decline in MASI, Sectoral Analysis, and Top Performing Stocks

The Casablanca Stock Exchange closed the week of October 16 to 20 with a slight decline, its main index, the MASI, losing 0.01% to 12,236.22 points (pts).

The MASI.20, which reflects the price performance of the 20 most liquid companies, gained 0.25% to 997.34 pts, while the MASI.ESG, index of companies with the best ESG rating, as published by Moody’s ESG Solutions, dropped 0.35% to 904.45.

The MASI Mid and Small Cap, thematic index which calculates the price performance of small and medium-sized companies listed on the Casablanca Stock Exchange, increased by 1.41% to 1,030.38 pts.

On a sectoral level, 8 indices ended up while 15 ended down. The real estate index recorded the largest increase (+9.12%) ahead of those of buildings and construction materials (+3.53%) and electricity (+2.83%).

On the losing side, the pharmaceutical industry showed the biggest decline (-8.56%), followed by forestry-paper (-4.32%) and beverages (-3.78%).

The overall volume of trade amounted to more than 1.18 billion dirhams (billion dirhams), including 1.1 billion dirhams on the central market.

For the most active stocks of the week, Cosumar comes in first position with a transactional flow of 273.35 MDH, ahead of Attijariwafa Bank (150.39 MDH) and Douja Prom Addoha (119.45 MDH).

The market capitalization stood at 627.02 billion dirhams (billion dirhams).

On the value front, the biggest declines of the week were recorded by Sothema (-10.44% to 1,004 DH), Ib Maroc.Com (-7.09% to 22.02 DH), Salafin (-6 .46% to 510 DH), M2M Group (-5.94% to 644 DH) and Société des beverages du Maroc (-4.76% to 2,600 DH).

On the other hand, the best performances were the work of Colorado (+10.47% to 47.50 DH), Douja Prom Addoha (+10.21% to 15.98 DH), Résidences Dar Saada (+10 .12% to 23.50 DH), Alliances (+6.18% to 114.3 DH), and Auto Nejma (+5.95% to 2,082 DH).
