Antarctic furseals struggle to survive without food. The crisis was caused by the decline in the number of their food, krill.

Antarctic furseals are fascinating to look at. But the study reports regarding them are not so pretty. They are struggling for survival due to scarcity of food. The lack of food has been a challenge for furzeals living on the sub-Antarctic islands of Georgia. The discovery was made by the British Antarctic Survey. Their main food is krill, small creatures belonging to the shrimp family. The krill population has at least put the furzeals in trouble. At the beginning of the 20th century, due to widespread hunting, the number of furzeals decreased. Later they were preserved with proper care. In 2009, the number of furzeals increased to 62 lakhs. Now the situation has become serious once more. A reduction in the number of krill due to climate change might lead to the extinction of Antarctic furseals, according to the report.
