2023-10-21 02:32:07
The fight for relegation in the League Cup has several teams involved

There are only five dates left. 15 points at stake that will define everything. The relegation zone is red hot, but the classification for the Cups also keeps all the teams in suspense. At the close of the 9th day of the League Cup, the defeats of Huracán and Tigre confirmed them as central protagonists of the battle at the bottom. After the relegation of Arsenal de Sarandí (they tied once morest Talleres de Córdoba) due to averages, the other relegation to the Primera Nacional will be closed through the Annual Table.

Huracán (38 points) would currently be losing the category, but is close to giving a fight to Colón de Santa Fe (39) who tied at home with River Plate. At the same time, Tigre (40) lost at home once morest Newell’s and complicated their situation in the fight for permanence.

In addition to these three main protagonists of the lower zone, there are six other teams separated from each other by just two units with: Unión (41), Gimnasia de La Plata (41), Sarmiento (41), Vélez (41), Banfield (42 ) and Central Córdoba of Santiago del Estero (43). A few places higher, now a little more relieved following several dates of tension, Independiente (46) is located in the same line as Instituto de Córdoba (46) and just above Barracas Central (45).

Rojo’s expectations now seem focused on fighting for one of the places to go to the Copa Sudamericana. However, it will not be an easy task: they are five points behind Estudiantes de La Plata, the last one in qualifying. Although in between, with the same intention, are Platense (48), Atlético Tucumán (48), Racing (49), Newell’s (49) and Lanús (49).

The other battle, of entering the Copa Libertadores, has San Lorenzo (55), Boca Juniors (54) and Rosario Central (54) expectant with what Defensa y Justicia (56) and Godoy Cruz (56), the last ones, do. two that today would go to the highest continental competition.

At the same time, Independiente, River, Instituto and Colón would be advancing today to the playoff phase for Zone A of the League Cup. While Belgrano, Godoy Cruz, Newell’s and Platense would do so in Zone B.

THIS IS THE ANNUAL TABLE

*The first three teams (excluding River Plate) will qualify for the Copa Libertadores.

*The following six teams will qualify for the Copa Sudamericana.

*The worst in the table will go to relegation and in case of equality in points there will be a final.
