Muscat: The Oman Meteorological Center has said that the tropical depression formed in the Arabian Sea will turn into a cyclone. The cyclone will be known by the name ‘Tej’ suggested by India. The tropical depression continues to move west-northwestward towards the coast of Oman’s Dhofar Governorate and Yemen. The center of the tropical depression is 1,050 km off the coast of Oman. In the next 24 hours, it will intensify into a tropical depression and in the next 48 hours, it will develop into a Category 1 Cyclone.
According to the warning, it is likely to pass between Dhofar Governorate and Al Mahra Governorate in Yemen between midnight on Monday and Tuesday morning. Its direct impact is expected to begin on Sunday in Dhofar and Al Wusta governorates. According to the warning of Civil Aviation, there may be rainfall of 50 to 200 mm in various places.
