Russian surgeon, Candidate of Medical Sciences Mark Gadziev spoke regarding the great harm of smoking hookah and its role in the increase in cancer patients among women. According to Gadziev, recently the number of patients with bladder cancer has seriously increased, especially many women.

Gadziev noted that smoking hookah is much more harmful than smoking cigarettes. The first one more often leads to cancer, since during smoking a person inhales a significantly larger volume of smoke hazardous to health. Gadziev explained how hookah leads to bladder cancer.

Hookahs are especially harmful, they also contain smoke containing carcinogens: the latter enter the blood through the lungs, then filter through the kidneys into the urine and affect the internal lining of the urinary tract epithelium (urothelium)– the doctor wrote in his Telegram channel.

Gadziev clearly believes that hookah smoking is much more dangerous than cigarettes, it’s all a matter of volume. “The cigarette contains regarding 10 puffs and is smoked in 2-3 minutes. And when taking a hookah puff, you inhale from 0.6 to 1 liter of smoke. A classic hookah session lasts 1-2 hours and involves a total of 100-150 puffs. In terms of smoke, hookah confidently wins“- said Gadziev
