This is made possible by sliding plastic mats and a small conveyor belt lift. But you shouldn’t expect a winter sports Eldorado: Young beginners can try their first small turns here or practice “pizza cuts” (snowplow) and “French fries” (driving straight ahead in parallel). The target group is initially primarily students from compulsory schools in Vienna. Thanks to a cooperation between the Vienna Ski Association (WSV) and the City of Vienna, they have the opportunity to make their first attempts at sliding until the end of February. “Thanks to special mats, young people can discover their enthusiasm for one of the most popular sports in the country, regardless of the weather conditions,” said a statement. The municipal department 51 (MA 51), which is responsible for sports, has invested 250,000 euros in a new, environmentally friendly matted slope on the so-called Vienna Skiwiesn.
