Workers from the Ministry of Cultures, Arts and Heritage (Mincap) took over the minister’s offices this Thursday Carolina Arredondoall of this in response to what they describe as a “breach” of the government of Gabriel Boric in relation to the agreement acquired in June to end the national strike that affected the portfolio.

“We have begun a peaceful occupation of the offices of the Minister of Cultures. It is an indefinite occupation, which will end only and exclusively when the government agrees to the points in our minutes.…We are in a critical situation,” he points out to BioBioChile the president of the National Association of Officials of the Undersecretary of Culture and the Arts (Anfucultura), Jorge González.

At the moment, it is a group of around 10 workers, among whom is the national board of Anfucultura and other regional directors of the group.

“We are in the company of the National Association of Tax Employees (Anef). The situation is critical, because on the one hand the budget increase for Culture will not allow us to achieve President Boric’s campaign promise, of having a Culture budget of 1% with respect to the National Budget. And on the other hand, today we have serious breaches in the Institutional Strengthening Plan and the agreement protocol that we signed to end our May-June strike,” he adds.

The latter was one of the main stumbling blocks during the negotiations between Anfucultura and Mincap around the national strike last June, when Arredondo had not yet taken office.

Among the points of the current petition, in addition to the increase in the Culture 2024 budget and the resources for the Institutional Strengthening Plan, they advocate the “immediate authorization of Official Letter 284 of the Institutional Strengthening Planwhich implies regularization with resources already available in the service”, and the “immediate provision of available regional positions, vacant and new, to face the crisis of work overload”.

Another point that stands out from the petition is related to “political and administrative measures once morest regional authorities and departmental heads that the organization has represented in authority, with specific situations of lack of hierarchical control, negligence, mistreatment, among other situations”.

The last point is even more explicit: “Immediate reduction of the advisors hired to date in both cabinets and their salaries, since once once more the authorities are making excessive use of this type of hiring, whose salaries have also been grossly increased.” already millionaires through assignments for critical functions.”

In dialogue with BioBioChileOn this point, González cites the case of Arredondo’s chief of staff, Gonzalo Pinto. “We are having this problem once more. “We have a chief of staff who does not have the requirements to be chief of staff, and that is precisely the one who has taken those critical assignments.”
