Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati confirmed, during the meeting called by Health Minister Firas Al-Abyad in the ministry to discuss the ministry’s plan to raise the readiness of the health sector in the event of any emergency, that “the government, even if its capabilities are small, will support the ministry’s plan in compliance with its full duties towards its citizens.” “.

During the meeting, Al-Abyad explained the main focus of the ministry’s plan, by increasing readiness and readiness to provide emergency services in the event of increased attacks and the number of wounded and injured, and allocating funds to ensure coverage of treatment and hospitalization.

Al-Abyad also spoke regarding “raising readiness and readiness in the event that the number of displaced people increases, fleeing the escalation of the attacks, so that the continuity of health services is ensured in the various regions, regardless of the increase in the number of people in need of them, in coordination with various health sector partners.”

The meeting was followed by a tour of the Public Health Emergency Operations Center established by the Ministry, where the White Weir explained to Mikati, the ministerial delegation, and the health union representatives present the mechanism of work in the room, so that it is the link between the Ministry and various health institutions for sound coordination and immediate response to needs.

In turn, Al-Abyad stressed, in the health sector’s stand condemning the Baptist Hospital massacre, “the need for the international community to fulfill its duties in terms of respecting international law, the sanctity and sanctity of health institutions, and the protection of health workers.”

Al-Abyad added, “The various crises facing our society prove that the health sector is always the first in line to commit to its humanitarian mission, and it must be neutralized, not made a target.”
