DUBAI – Algerian participation in the “North Star” by GITEX (Gulf Information Technology Exhibition) exhibition in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), whose work closed on Wednesday, was crowned with promising results, taking into account the numerous agreements concluded by the start-ups and fruitful meetings with investors, in addition to promoting national potential in terms of innovation.

This international exhibition, which constitutes a major global event in the field of technology, was an opportunity for Algerian start-ups to participate alongside the “Algeria Venture” accelerator, to prove themselves in terms of innovation. , by proposing solutions that can help address the concerns of different economic sectors.

In this context, the Director General of the “Algeria Venture” accelerator, Sid Ali Zerrouki affirmed that the Algerian participation in this international event, which opened last Sunday, was “a success on all levels” in view of the considerable energies of start-ups which were highlighted, as “ambassadors of innovation and entrepreneurship in Algeria”.

“The positive results of Algerian participation reflect the efforts made by the Algerian State to develop and strengthen the capacities of start-ups, but also to make them known on an international scale,” he maintained.

Mr. Zerrouki indicated that an Algerian start-up won 1st place in the competition entitled: “Arab Challenge for the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence”, organized on the sidelines of the International Multimedia and Technologies Exhibition “Gitex Global” and that four Algerian start-ups reached the semi-final stage of the “Supernova Competition” out of 20 start-ups chosen from 1,800 start-ups worldwide, estimating that these achievements “honor Algeria” .

Also, several investment funds displayed, during this event, their desire and interest to activate in Algeria in the field of start-ups, according to the same manager who also reported the establishment by several start-ups participants, relations with international companies, with a view to exchanging expertise and developing solutions in Algeria.

Several start-ups have concluded agreements with their counterparts and with investors, for the purposes of cooperation and partnership, adds Mr. Zerrouki for whom the show was an opportunity to make foreigners aware of the new investment law. and the incentive measures decided by the State.

Furthermore, the Algerian stand seized this opportunity to promote the 2nd edition of the African Startup Conference that Algeria will host next December.

Algeria Venture signs an agreement with a global accelerator

The last day of the event saw the signing of a cooperation agreement between the public accelerator “Algeria Venture” and “CMC Ventures”, a global Indian platform.

This agreement offers the possibility of establishing contact between Algerian start-ups and international donors as well as risk funds. It also represents a valuable opportunity for training and technical assistance.

For his part, the president of the Scientific Council of the public accelerator, Younes Guerar highlighted the importance of Algerian participation in this event which saw the presence of 1,800 start-ups representing more than 100 countries. The Show allowed start-ups to get closer to leading global companies in this field and benefit from their experience.

The Algerian pavilion saw a large influx of visitors from all over the world. The latter had an in-depth idea of ​​the potential of Algerian start-ups and their digital capabilities in terms of developing new solutions in various fields of activity.
