A Renault procedure has been initiated at the Catalent company in Gosselies. Friday, during an extraordinary council meeting, the pharmaceutical subcontracting group announced a vast restructuring plan. 104 jobs are threatened out of the 347 the company has on its Carolo site.
The biotechnology company, specializing in the production of cellular material, justifies this restructuring on several grounds: There were, among other things, delays in the supply chain. The company also lost 2 large customers, without forgetting the costs of successive indexations and new market regulations.
A first works council was held this Tuesday between unions and management. Union representatives questioned management on how they plan to reduce staff numbers. They will now send counter-proposals, to reduce the consequences of this restructuring.
