Having worked in particular with the insurer Generali, Stéphane Dedeyan joined the public group in April 2021 as general manager of its subsidiary CNP Assurances.
The Postal Bank announced on Wednesday the appointment of Stéphane Dedeyan as chairman of the management board, a position he has held on an interim basis since the surprise departure of Philippe Heim on August 2. The bank’s supervisory board “appointed Stéphane Dedeyan chairman of the management board of Banque Postale”, writes the La Poste subsidiary in a press release.
“Stéphane Dedeyan demonstrated his great leadership qualities within our group,” commented La Poste CEO Philippe Wahl.
A graduate of HEC, Stéphane Dedeyan joined the group as general manager of its subsidiary CNP Assurances in 2021, a position he still holds until the appointment of a replacement, specifies the Postal Bank (LBP). He becomes a member of the LBP executive committee in 2021 and a member of the management board in 2022 following the merger of the two groups and the delisting of CNP Assurances.
Revamp of private banking, growth of fintech Django and expanded asset management segment
Having worked for the insurer Generali between 1999 and 2017 – he joined the France executive committee in 2006 and became general manager for France in January 2014 – Stéphane Dedeyan was then briefly the general manager of the Vyv mutual group. The challenges facing him are numerous. La Banque Postale and CNP Assurances, brought together as part of the creation of a large public financial center, must continue to learn to work together.
The banking establishment must also digest the projects launched in all directions by Philippe Heim: the overhaul last year of his private bank or the growth of the in-house fintech Django, a player in “citizen” consumer credit. The bank has also expanded its asset management segment, with the acquisition this year of La Financière de l’Echiquier (LFDE), attached to LBP AM.
This is the third change in a year at the head of a major French bank, following those of Laurent Mignon, who was succeeded by Nicolas Namias last December at the head of BPCE, and of Frédéric Oudéa replaced by Slawomir Krupa at the helm. management of Société Générale in May. La Banque Postale, a subsidiary of La Poste itself owned by the Caisse des Dépôts (CDC) and the State, claims 20 million individual customers, businesses and local public sector players in France.
