The President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, reacted to the signing of agreements between the government and the opposition in Barbados.
On social networks, the national leader made it clear that “we have always sought dialogue,” but that it has not been an easy path.
“With the signing of these agreements we are taking the first step towards the full lifting of all sanctions, the progressive recovery of social well-being, economic growth, the consolidation of peace and democracy,” he added.
Furthermore, everything will happen thanks to “full sovereignty and national independence.”
During the meeting, representatives of the Kingdom of Norway, Mexico, Russia, Brazil and Colombia were present, as facilitators and companions of the dialogue between both parties.

He also took the opportunity to publish the full agreements that were signed, both those that have to do with political and social issues.

The Foreign Ministry also published a statement in which they set their position on this new round of dialogue with the unitary platform.

He added that “this agreement offers democratic institutionality to extremist factors, it is a first step to end the criminal sanctions that have caused suffering to the people, it supports and defends our historical rights in Essequibo, and rejects the criminal dispossession of Citgo.”
In the letter they confirm the negotiations with representatives of the United States and the opposition, to “address strategic issues related to national political and democratic life, aimed at redirecting the extremist sectors in the institutions and definitively keeping them away from violence and destabilization.”
“Likewise, the negotiations have been mainly focused on healing the social wounds caused by the illegitimate economic aggression, through the full lifting of the criminal sanctions that have collectively punished the Venezuelan population without distinction, requested by this same opposition with which Today we are agreeing to begin the process for its complete lifting,” they continue.

Thanks to this, they signed the partial agreements “in order to ratify the broad and solid electoral guarantees provided for in the Venezuelan legal system, which have been developed over the last decade by the Electoral Power through a solid, invulnerable and robust electoral system ”.
“Likewise, an agreement has been signed in support of the historical, sovereign and inalienable rights of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela over Guayana Esequiba. Likewise, the rejection of the unilateral and illegal disposal by the Cooperative Republic of Guyana of undelimited waters through the granting of hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation licenses has been established,” they noted.
Also “we have also rejected the criminal seizure of assets, assets and property of the company Citgo Petroleum Corporation.”
