Systems with an output of up to 35 KWp are to be exempt from sales tax from the beginning of 2024
Vienna (OTS) – “Zero sales tax, zero bureaucracy” – this was announced today, Tuesday, by Climate Protection Minister Leonore Gewessler at the press conference on the economic stimulus measures in the upcoming federal budget. From the beginning of 2024, photovoltaic systems with an output of up to 35 KWp will be exempt from sales tax. In Germany, the zero tax rate model for the purchase and construction of private photovoltaic systems and solar power storage systems was implemented at the beginning of 2023 – Austria is now following suit.
“The abolition of VAT on photovoltaic systems is an important step towards a sustainable energy future. We have long pointed out that the German model is the least bureaucratic and most effective way to further accelerate the necessary expansion of photovoltaics. We are pleased that the federal government is implementing our long-standing demand and is thus sending another important economic signal. The new measure reduces tax and bureaucratic hurdles and enables more households to switch to using renewable energies, which not only relieves the burden on the environment but also brings significant financial benefits in the long term,” emphasizes Federal Guild Master Christian Bräuer.
The industry has been pushing the switch to renewable energies for years – this was also shown by the figures mentioned by Minister Gewessler at the press conference.
“The last three years have been record years for the expansion of renewable energies. We can only confirm that the industry gave everything, as Minister Gewessler emphasized at the press conference. We will continue to be available as a partner for a safe energy transition in the key future topics for climate protection measures – such as energy storage systems, building automation for the efficient use of electrical energy and the expansion of the charging infrastructure for e-mobility – with our specialist electricians in Austria. Our industry is a pioneer when it comes to climate protection, we work for it every day and stand by it proudly,” said Federal Guild Master Christian Bräuer. (PWK359/HSP)
