Improving Oral Health for CHSLD Residents: Essential Training for Caregivers

2023-10-17 20:10:43

In context

Residents in residential and long-term care centers (CHSLD) are often weakened by a significant loss of autonomy. This leads to a progressive reduction in the motor functions necessary for certain tasks such as brushing natural teeth or cleaning dentures. Residents then become unable to perform their daily oral hygiene care independently.

This situation can lead to the following consequences:

Rapid development of certain oral diseases. A potential risk of deterioration in their overall health.

The intervention of the care team then becomes essential to help residents maintain good oral health, good chewing capacity and a good quality of life.
