Córdoba young player Álvaro Prieto is dead.
Álvaro Prieto (18) had been missing since last week.
Now the 18-year-old’s body was discovered between two train carriages.
The dead young footballer was seen on a live broadcast, which sparked strong criticism.
Spain mourns the loss of a young footballer. Álvaro Prieto had been missing since last week, but now there is sad certainty: the 18-year-old is dead. A reporter from the La 1 station discovered Prieto’s body on Monday during a live broadcast in Seville train station.
The dead teenager was stuck between two carriages of a disused train. Because neither the reporter prevented Prieto’s body from being shown on TV nor did the program immediately interrupt, there was a hail of heavy criticism from viewers followingwards. “These images should not have been broadcast,” the station apologized a little later.
Climbed onto the roof of the train
According to Spanish media, it already seems clear how the tragedy involving the young FC Córdoba footballer might have occurred. As “El Mundo” writes, Prieto is said to have climbed onto the roof of a disused train. He then came into contact with the traction power line and fell between the wagons. “Marca” reports burns on the teenager’s hands.
Prieto was out with friends in Seville last Thursday. After a party, the 18-year-old wanted to take the train back to Córdoba, 130 kilometers away. Apparently Prieto had a corresponding ticket on his cell phone, but no battery left. Spanish media report that employees of the train company prevented him from getting on the train.
