A Apple today announced a new model of its pencil for tablets with some welcome changes for professional users.
The new model is equipped with a connector USB-Cmaking it possible to use it with the entire current line of tablets — and even recharge it with iPhones 15.
More precisely, the new port is under a sliding cover on the top of the Pencil, allowing customers to use a USB-C cable for pairing and charging the new Apple Pencil.
When magnetically attached to iPad for storage, the new Apple Pencil goes into a sleep state to preserve battery life.
Furthermore, the new Apple Pencil has the second generation design and the same matte finish. The model, however, does not have all the features available with the 2nd generation Apple Pencil, which further improves and speeds up professional workflows with support for pressure, double-tap gesture and the option of wireless recharging.
it pairs and recharges wirelessly, has magnetic attachment and is tilt-sensitive, and supports the Apple Pencil on-screen feature.
The new Apple Pencil will be available to purchase separately for $79 (US), with availability starting in early November.
The new Apple Pencil is compatible with all iPad models with a USB-C port, including iPad (10th generation), iPad Air (4th and 5th generations), 11-inch iPad Pro (1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generations), 12.9-inch iPad Pro (3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th generations) and iPad mini (6th generation).
Apple Pencil (1st generation) is compatible with iPad (10th generation) and iPad (9th generation). A USB-C to Apple Pencil adapter is required for pairing and charging and is included in the Apple Pencil (1st generation) box for $99 (US).
For existing Apple Pencil (1st generation) owners, the USB-C to Apple Pencil adapter is sold separately for $9 (US).
Apple Pencil (2nd generation), available for purchase separately, is compatible with iPad Air, iPad mini, and iPad Pro for $129 (US).
