[월간수소경제 성은숙 기자] First Hydrogen, a hydrogen integrated solutions company headquartered in Vancouver, Canada and London, England, announced on the 16th (local time) that it will hold a track day to test drive its hydrogen-electric light commercial vehicle van.

This event is scheduled to be held at the HORIBA MIRA track in England at the end of October.

Track day refers to a day at an automobile racetrack where ordinary drivers drive their vehicles freely around the track.

This event is open to major UK light commercial vehicle (LCV) fleet operators, including members of the Aggregated Hydrogen Freight Consortium (AHFC). AHFC is working with large vehicle operators and the government to rapidly commercialize hydrogen electric vehicles and hydrogen charging infrastructure to decarbonize long-distance medium-sized vans and trucks.

First Hydrogen also plans to provide an opportunity to discuss the practicality of FCEV as a zero-emission vehicle through a technology presentation and vehicle tour.

First Hydrogen explained that its hydrogen van has undergone road testing with British vehicle management specialist RIVUS and energy service company SSE, and that it is cooperating with major parcel delivery companies. He added that demand for hydrogen vans has already been secured through more than 15 major fleet operators.

It was also reported that it can travel regarding 630 km (400 miles) with another refueling. Last August, First Hydrogen announced that it had achieved this record in tests conducted with SSE.

According to global market research firm Allied Market Research, the global LCV market size is expected to reach $786.5 billion by 2030.

“This event gives fleet managers the opportunity to sit in the driver’s seat and understand the scope, use cases and benefits of FCEVs compared to other alternative fuel vehicles,” said Steve Gill, CEO of First Hydrogen. “There is the possibility of holding similar driving events for potential customers in North America.”

Meanwhile, in July, First Hydrogen signed a feasibility study contract with engineering consultant Sacré-Davey Engineering to develop a 35MW green hydrogen production facility and hydrogen vehicle assembly plant in Shawinigan, Quebec, Canada. did.
