Rigobert Song: “There is no theory of danger. We were playing a friendly match, and you might see that we rotated the squad to give almost all the players a chance. The performance was not bad, even if the result was negative. In the first half it was more difficult because my players struggled to find their bearings, but in the second half we brought in the young guys and we showed improvement. I think that between now and the CAN, we will find the necessary elements to approach this competition with more certainty. This match will allow us to correct our shortcomings now, hoping that everyone is back.”

-Why is it so difficult to retain your African champion title? Do you think Senegal is capable of it?

Rigobert Song: “Generations evolve. We see what is happening now with the development of African football. It is difficult to maintain its status as African champion, because there are no longer any small teams facing it, which gives all its charm to the CAN. I hope that Senegal will not win a second consecutive title, like we did in 2000 and 2002…”.
