Fuel operations at cost price and especially the drop in the price of oil explain this drop in prices at the pump, which are returning to their summer prices.

An outbreak which was not regarding to stop and which would continue until the end of the year. These were September’s alarmist predictions regarding fuel prices at the pump. However, for several weeks now, the lull seems to be confirmed. It may be temporary but in the meantime it relieves motorists’ wallets.

According to data from the Ministry of Energy Transition, pump prices fell once more last week for the third time in a row. This Friday, October 13, the average price of SP95 – E10 was on average 1.816 euros per liter, a decrease of 4.7 cents over one week.

For its part, diesel was down 4.4 cents to 1.85 euros per liter on average in the territory. After the peak of summer, the SP95 returned to its mid-July price level. The decline in the price of diesel, however, is smaller. The most consumed fuel in France has returned to its level at the beginning of September.

This drop is partly explained by the cost-price fuel operations carried out by major retail brands, which helped to put a stop to the increase.

But it is above all the drop in barrel prices which explains the significant decline of last week. North Sea oil (Brent) fell to 89 euros per barrel, a drop of 2.7 dollars over one week and even 6 dollars compared to the peak reached at the end of September.
