A man in his 40s suspected of leaving a weapon in front of Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon’s house was arrested.

Lee Min-soo, chief judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, issued an arrest warrant for Mr. Hong, 42, who was requested for an arrest warrant on charges of special threats and special home invasion.

After interrogating Hong as a suspect before arrest, the court determined that there was “a risk of him running away.”

Mr. Hong, who appeared in court, responded, “What I am now is what Minister Han Dong-hoon will be like in the future,” and did not open his mouth when asked why he left the weapon in front of Minister Han’s house.

Mr. Hong was caught by the police around 3 a.m. on the 11th on suspicion of leaving a weapon and a ignition torch in front of the front door of a minister’s apartment in Dogok-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

The police, who began an investigation following receiving a complaint from an employee of the apartment security team, arrested Hong at his residence in Gangdong-gu, Seoul on the followingnoon of the 14th.

In a police investigation, Mr. Hong was reported to have said, “I wanted to express my feelings by going to the house of someone I remembered among the powerful people who had been harassing me for over two years.”

It is known that Mr. Hong has worked as a day laborer and at a logistics center, but currently has no job and has never belonged to a political party.

The police believe that Mr. Hong learned Minister Han’s address through an Internet search and are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident.
