Who can benefit from the fuel bonus?
The fuel bonus is financial aid put in place to help the French cope with rising fuel prices. For the year 2024, this bonus will be 100 euros. Its aim is to help low-income people cover part of their diesel or gasoline expenses.
This aid is intended for the bottom 50% of French households who depend on their vehicle to get to work. It covers a variety of vehicles, including two-wheelers, electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids.
The bonus is awarded per individual and not per household. Thus, each member of a modest couple using their vehicle for work can receive 100 euros, allowing a couple to obtain up to 200 euros in aid.
Fuel bonus: how to get it?
To be eligible, you must be at least 16 years old on December 31, 2022, reside in mainland France or in the French Overseas Territories, and be tax domiciled in France for the year 2022. In addition, the beneficiary must be active, own a vehicle for professional reasons, have modest income and not be subject to real estate wealth tax in 2022. A form will be available on the tax website to check eligibility.
Although the exact date has not yet been announced, the Ministry of the Economy has indicated that the fuel bonus will be paid “at the beginning of 2024”. For the year 2023, the form was accessible from January 16 to March 31, 2023, and the aid was paid into a period of eight days.
