Innsbruck (OTS) – The SP has set out to bring a breath of fresh air to the government bench. LHStv has more than a lukewarm fan. Georg Dornauer has not yet produced it. There is also a huge gap between announcement and implementation for the Tyrolean Reds.
The black-red state government will be in office for one year as of October 25th. The SPÖ replaced the Greens as junior partner and joined the VP ( once more) to renew the country. In the middle of a time of multiple crises. SP regional leader Georg Dornauer sees himself fully on track. But in doing so he looks into his own distorting political mirror.
Deputy State Governor – Georg Dornauer a year ago did not think he was at the beginning, but rather at the end of his previous dreams. With all his might, the Sellrain SP shooting star wanted to see the SPÖ, but even more so himself, sitting on the government bench. Dornauer has been whirling around the country ever since. His sports department serves as a welcome stage. Whether at the village soccer field, at the tennis tournament in Kitz or at the tent festival with the Ziach organ – his shirt-sleeved and affable charm appeals to the electorate.
In terms of content, however, Dornauer is already receiving insults here and there in the depths of everyday political business. The government man Dornauer is as quick to make big announcements as he once was as opposition leader. Especially when it comes to wanting to pacify the construction sites of his predecessors. However, reality quickly brings his promises back down to earth.
Only Dornauer himself believes in his MCI groundbreaking ceremony, which was announced for December. The package to save Seefeld from the World Cup financial funding vortex with the federal government has collapsed like a house of cards for the time being. The pool study approved by the state parliament in December 2022 was so important to Dornauer that he only commissioned it last week. When it comes to housing, which is also his responsibility, Dornauer has so far not been able to go beyond financial painkillers to combat the ongoing explosion in housing costs. The basic problem remains unsolved. And as far as the increased accommodation rate in Tyrol is concerned, the decline in asylum applications in Austria is also playing into the Asylum Regional Council’s hands. He still mimes the red agitator towards Vienna.
The team behind Dornauer can also only make limited use of its potential. State Councilor for Social Affairs Eva Pawlata’s political successes are manageable. The career changer all too often dribbles her way into the small and small and still seems to be searching for her role. A clear stance is not their thing: Keywords are abortion and Chancellor Burger Gate. Club chairwoman Elisabeth Fleischanderl also remains colorless. Only State Transport Councilor René Zumtobel scores points on a case-by-case basis.
“We have to deliver now,” Dornauer recently said self-critically. And by that he meant the overall performance of the coalition. Maybe also the SP and yourself. Self-knowledge has always been the first step to improvement.
