An accident occurred in which a man in his 40s, who was trying to pick up a dropped cell phone, fell into a ventilation shaft five floors underground and died. The man was discovered by a nearby building security guard the following followingnoon.
According to Seoul Suseo Police Station on the 15th, an accident occurred around 11 p.m. on the 11th in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where a man in his 40s fell into a ventilation shaft next to the sidewalk while trying to pick up a dropped cell phone.
The ventilation shaft in question was five floors deep underground. The man was discovered by a nearby building security guard around 5pm the next day. The security guard is reported to have reported it to the police, saying, “I can see a faint object under the ventilation shaft.”
The police and fire department responded and found the man on the floor of the mechanical parking lot on the 5th floor underground, but he was already dead.
After analyzing the CCTV footage from the time of the accident, it is believed that the man dropped his cell phone into the ventilation shaft, opened the cover to take it out, and fell.
The police are investigating the details of the incident.
