The Neos in Salzburg have repositioned themselves following the debacle in the state elections in the spring, in which they missed re-entry into the state parliament. The state assembly elected the 34-year-old on Sunday Add Aldali with 84 percent of the votes as the new state party leader. She was the only candidate for this position. Aldali comes from Unken in Salzburg’s Pinzgau. She is a middle school teacher and has been a member of Neos since 2016.
After the election defeat in April, the entire state team including state leader Andrea Klambauer resigned; Neos Salzburg’s business was run from Vienna.
The Neos also held state meetings on Saturday in Upper Austria and Vienna. Unlike last year, when Felix Eypeltauer was confirmed as state party leader with 79 percent, there was no election for party leadership in Upper Austria this year at the meeting in the Ars Electronica Center. Junos state chairwoman Laura Feldler and Hirschbach local councilor Gerald Pirklbauer were newly elected to the Neos state team.
At the Neos general meeting in Vienna, Neos regional head and deputy mayor Christoph Wiederkehr outlined the plans for government work in Vienna. He sharply criticized the pro-Palestine rallies in Vienna.
