Summit cross in Ebensee was dismantled

Rosina Steiner is Ebensee’s oldest citizen. In just under three months, on January 22nd, she will celebrate her 104th birthday. Her grandson Thomas Hüttner has already given her a very special gift for the “hundred”: on the Brenntenkogel, not far from the Ebenseer Sonnstein, he dedicated a cross and summit book to her. Because she lives right below the mountain and because he wanted to express his love and gratitude to her. “Hopefully she can spend more wonderful years on earth,” it was written in the book. But now the cross has disappeared. Hüttner doesn’t know where. Nor the reason for it. Except it was vandalized.

However, he suspects that “there are people on our mountains who don’t know how to behave.” In addition to numerous “nice and positive entries,” the book also contained derogatory ones: Why a man from Gmund erected a summit cross in Ebensee, for example. The book has also been removed once in the past. Hüttner is sad because “many people enjoyed it.”
