JERUSALEM: The Israeli army has opened a ‘safe’ corridor for residents of northern Gaza to travel to the south. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) posted on the X (Twitter) platform that no operations will be conducted in this corridor for 3 hours from 10 am to 1 pm local time.

“Residents of Gaza City and Northern Gaza, in the past days, we requested you to move to the southern area for your safety. We would like to inform you that the IDF will not conduct any operation on this route from 10 am to 1 pm. “Use the opportunity to move from northern Gaza to the south,” the Israeli military said.

The security of Gaza residents and their families is paramount, the military said. “Please follow our instructions and go south. Hamas leaders have already ensured their safety and that of their families,” the post said.

This morning, the Israeli military released images of what it claims are Hamas blocking people from entering southern Gaza. Israel’s former national security adviser has accused Hamas of deliberately holding people hostage in places it knows Israel will carry out bombings.
