China News Service, Taiyuan, October 15th (Reporter Li Xinsuo) The 2023 Third Tour of Taiyuan Road Cycling Race (referred to as “Tour of Taiyuan”) kicked off in Taiyuan, Shanxi on the 15th. 20 teams from around the world competed in the mountains and rivers of Taiyuan.
That morning, in front of the Shouyi Gate of Taiyuan Wuyi Square, professional and amateur drivers were inspected in batches. Under the warm autumn sun, as the order was given, 180 professional drivers from 20 teams around the world quickly left the starting line. On both sides of the street, a large number of citizens and cycling enthusiasts applauded and cheered for the contestants.

Shi Chunmei, deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Taiyuan Municipal Government, said that in addition to the five professional teams from across the Taiwan Strait and Hong Kong, the remaining 15 intercontinental teams and club teams come from 12 countries including the Netherlands, Poland, Egypt, Thailand, Iran, and the Philippines.
In terms of track design, the track on the 15th will be 110 kilometers long, starting from Taiyuan Wuyi Square and passing through the city’s central business district, water park, tourist highway, cultural monuments, etc. along the way.
Chen Bo, deputy mayor of Taiyuan City, said that Taiyuan, driven by hosting world-class sports brand events, has successively held a number of high-quality events such as the Tour of Taiyuan Road Cycling Race, Taiyuan Marathon, and Fenhe Dragon Boat Open to showcase the city’s image to the world.
