Vienna (OTS/SPW-K) – The members of the Vienna state parliament and municipal council are subject to numerous rules and regulations that are intended to ensure the integrity, serious and independent exercise of their functions. In order to anchor the issue of compliance even more firmly for Viennese representatives of the state parliament and local council, the SPÖ and NEOS appointed the first compliance officer in the Vienna state parliament in autumn 2022.
“With the appointment of the then state parliament director Dr. The City of Vienna has already appointed Günther Smutny, its first compliance officer, who has been entrusted with the development of concrete standards of conduct. Smutny, who has headed the Vienna Mayor’s presidential department since June 2023, was followed by Mag. Wolfgang Fink. The new state parliament director and compliance officer Wolfgang Fink is supporting in this role by developing a proposal for common standards of conduct for members of the Vienna state parliament and city council,” says Josef Taucher, chairman of the SPÖ club in Vienna City Hall. “The establishment of a compliance officer is a transparency milestone that the SPÖ and NEOS set together last year.”
SPÖ club chairman Josef Taucher concluded: “The code of conduct, which has been worked on at high speed over the last few months, is now close to completion. We look forward to the joint coordination process with the other state parliament clubs that will now follow.”
