A second royal life for the Imperial Garoupe d’Antibes

It is one of four 5-star hotels in Cap d’Antibes. Acquired by the French group Inwood Hotels last May, the Impérial Garoupe, a Relais & Châteaux member, is preparing for an ambitious renovation project.

There is no question of touching the structure of this elegant mansion nestled in a shady park. “The idea is to restore its image and restore its notoriety,” announces the new owner.

For what?

“We acquired this hotel in the spring, explains OIivier Romain, director of group operations and general manager of Impérial Garoupe. We were struck by the enormous potential of this establishment nestled in the heart of Cap d’Antibes, like a cocoon.”

A potential which, according to OIivier Romain, was not sufficiently highlighted by the previous owner.

“For example, the decoration made up of different objects that he brought back from his travels does not really offer a guideline. And in terms of clientele, it is currently mainly known in the regions. This does not fit with a hotel nestled in the heart of the iconic Cap d’Antibes, luxurious and confidential, which must meet a certain standard and the needs of a demanding and wealthy clientele.

We are really keen to give this sleeping beauty a second lease of life. We want to make it one of the jewels of Cap d’Antibes, an exceptional place. In terms of investments, this represents between 30 and 40% of the purchase price of the hotel. »

The idea

The Inwood Hotel group has entrusted the challenge to architect Oscar Lucien Ono and Maison Number 20. Oscar Lucien Ono, whose talent has already shone through several hotel renovations undertaken with Inwood Hotels, will draw on the strengths of Imperial Garoupe and the region: enchanting garden, flamboyant colors, captivating fragrances of the Mediterranean, local artists…

“This type of renovation project is part of the DNA of our group, specifies OIivier Romain. We come to put our touch through decoration and an art of living. For the Imperial Garoupe, we are going to work around the theme of the ‘dreamer’.”

Firstly, by next spring (date of the hotel’s reopening), the hotel’s 35 rooms, common living spaces and restaurant will be renovated. “Phase 2 will be carried out later, specifies the director of hotel group operations. It will focus on the exteriors, gardens and swimming pool. An incredible space for which in recent years the right choices have not necessarily been made. In particular, we want to restore its place here to this incredible nature of Cap d’Antibes. A real haven of peace.”

An ambitious project, which will undoubtedly be closely scrutinized on the Cap d’Antibes.
