(AFP, Washington, 13th) The White House pointed out today that North Korea has transported more than 1,000 containers of military equipment and ammunition to Russia in recent weeks for use in the war in Ukraine.

The White House statement comes a month following North Korean leader Kim Jong Un traveled to the Russian Far East to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin, sparking concerns among Ukraine’s allies regarding a possible arms deal between Russia and North Korea.

“We condemn (North Korea) for providing these Russian military equipment,” White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said.

“We will continue to monitor (North Korea’s) increased shipments of weapons to Russia,” he said.

Russia will expand ammunition production this year to an estimated 2.5 million rounds, but analysts believe this quantity may not be enough to meet battlefield needs.
