In implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, the United Arab Emirates sent urgent humanitarian aid to Afghanistan; To help those affected by the earthquake that struck the western state of Herat, which led to the death and injury of thousands of people, the majority of whom were women and children.

Yesterday, a number of relief planes carrying large quantities of food supplies, medicines, medical supplies, and in-kind assistance provided to the brotherly Afghan people left the country. To meet the shortfall in the needs of those affected by the earthquake.

This came with the participation of many relief institutions in the country, in a way that contributes to providing the necessary needs to support those affected by the earthquake in Afghanistan, and in a way that enables us to identify their humanitarian needs as quickly as possible, and follow up on their living conditions and their health and psychological conditions until this crisis is overcome.

This humanitarian aid comes within the framework of the UAE’s humanitarian role in helping those affected and afflicted around the world, extending a helping hand to them, and responding to urgent humanitarian issues.

In a related context, the United Arab Emirates, through its charitable institutions, continued its humanitarian role in the Chadian arena to rehabilitate Amdgrass schools and provide daily life necessities to the population.

The UAE Aid Coordination Office, the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for Humanitarian Work, and the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation are working to provide a suitable environment for the displaced. With the start of the school year approaching, a delegation made an inspection visit to the school maintenance project in coordination with the relevant authorities in the city. In this regard, 300 study tables, chairs, and drinking water coolers were provided, and 1,000 school bags were provided for the 300 male and female students of the three schools. Yesterday, the first water well was drilled to provide 50 gallons of water per hour, and work is underway to provide water effectively and safely to the residents, and to dig other wells in the areas surrounding the city. The people expressed their thanks and appreciation to the UAE and its charitable institutions in Amdgrass, which are making significant efforts to alleviate their daily suffering and provide for their needs.
