Quebec astrophysicist, writer and environmentalist Hubert Reeves died at age 91 on Friday.
Martin Carli, science popularizer, talks regarding man and scientist on host Patrick Lagacé’s show.
“He’s a model for me,” he says. He is an exceptional being. Regarding science popularizers, I had two idols when I finished my CEGEP: the French geneticist Albert Jacquard and Hubert Reeves, who explained the universe, the cosmos. In both cases, I was fascinated by the humanity with which these individuals explained science.”
Martin Carli specifies that the environmental cause was his great motivation during the last years of his life.
During his long career, Mr. Reeves received numerous distinctions, including the Albert Einstein and Samuel de Champlain prizes. He was also an officer of the National Order of Quebec, not to mention that he held eight honorary doctorates.
