The Egyptian authorities are ready to help evacuate Russians from the Gaza Strip, said the Russian Ambassador in Cairo Georgy Borisenko. This is what he’s talking regarding told me in the evening October 13 in an interview with RT.
The ambassador confirmed that there are “hundreds of Russian citizens” and citizens of other CIS countries in Gaza. Russia is now working closely with the Egyptian authorities “to organize the evacuation of compatriots,” Borisenko said.
“The Egyptian authorities are ready to help us, they have stated this and are actually making preparations to carry out the removal of our people,” said the Russian Ambassador to Egypt.
At the same time, Borisenko noted that at the moment there is no “security corridor” from Gaza. Its creation “entirely depends on the Israeli army,” the ambassador emphasized.
Let us recall that on October 13, Israeli infantry and tanks entered the Gaza Strip to conduct “local raids.”
The war in Israel began following a rocket attack by the Palestinian Hamas movement from the Gaza Strip on Israeli cities and military targets on Saturday, October 7. Over the course of a week, more than 1.8 thousand Palestinians were killed, over 7 thousand were injured, and on the Israeli side, up to 1.5 thousand people became victims of the conflict, and almost 4 thousand were injured.
At the time of publication, the death of four Russian citizens in the conflict zone was officially confirmed. 12 Russians are on the list of missing persons.
