Honor has unveiled the Honor Magic Vs2, a book-sized folding smartphone that is the lightest in its category.

The Honor Magic V2 blew us away when we saw it at IFA 2023 with its extremely thin design, its featherweight for a folding smartphone and its Parallel Space mode which allows you to launch two instances of the same application on the same device.
If we are still waiting for the Honor Magic V2 to be marketed in France, the Chinese giant is not waiting and is therefore announcing, for China, the Honor Magic Vs2. This is more or less a mid-year variation of the first model. As a reminder, its predecessor, the Honor Magic Vs is at the time of writing the only folding smartphone in book format marketed opposite Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 5.
Even thinner and lighter
On paper, the smartphone mainly looks like a light version. In fact, it goes from 231g to 229g thanks to its magnesium alloy chassis and its titanium hinge.

But especially light on the performance side since it swaps the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 of the V2 for a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, less powerful, because of the previous generation. The fact remains that it is an excellent chip which should allow the bill to be lowered a little without losing too much capacity.
The photo part also loses a few pixels in passing. If we keep a triple photo module, with 20 Mpx telephoto lens and 50 Mpx wide angle, the ultra wide angle passes on a 12 Mpx sensor compared to 50 Mpx.
For the rest, the technical sheet seems quite similar: 6.43 inch Oled screens on the front (2376 x 1060 pixels) and 7.92 inches on the internal screen (2344 x 2156 pixels). The battery still has 5000 mAh and 66W charging.
The adventure in the folding smartphone seems to be going well for Honor. According to figures communicated by the brand but collected by Counterpoint Research, in the third quarter, the Honor Magic V2 was the best seller in the book-format folding smartphone segment in China.
