A spokesman for the Ministry of Health said that hospitals in Gaza are at full capacity, and the wounded and sick are lying on the ground.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Health held “the Israeli occupation fully responsible for the lives of the wounded and sick due to its exhaustion of the health system and weakening of its capabilities during the siege and ongoing aggression once morest the Gaza Strip.”

The statement concluded by saying, “The health situation cannot tolerate silence, and urgent action must be taken to provide safe passage for medical supplies and leave the wounded and sick before it is too late.”

International medical non-governmental organizations warned of the health situation in the Gaza Strip, which has been subjected to Israeli army bombing since the Hamas attack on Saturday, calling for the opening of a humanitarian corridor to support the medical response and respect for humanitarian law.

“The situation is catastrophic, and I do not think anyone is safe in Gaza,” Sarah Chatto, head of the Palestine program for Doctors Without Borders, said on Wednesday.

Chatto added: “We moved part of our teams to one of the United Nations buildings. The explosions were so huge that the risks are very high.”

“Under a complete state of siege, how long will our teams be able to hold out? We need a humanitarian corridor to support the medical response, bring in equipment, and replace teams on site,” Chatto demanded.

For its part, the non-governmental organization Doctors of the World, which has regarding thirty employees in the West Bank and regarding twenty employees in Gaza, warned of the seriousness of the situation.

The organization’s vice president, Doctor Jean-François Corti, said: “The transfer of patients has decreased due to the siege and the intensity of the bombing. Our team is working to survive, and it is very difficult for them to be able to do their work,” noting that “80 percent of the population there depends on humanitarian aid.”
