Atlanta Fed President Bostic said there is no need to continue raising interest rates unless the pace of decline in inflation begins to slow.
“I don’t think we need to do anything more with interest rates,” Bostic said in a speech at the Atlanta Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce on the 11th. If the pace of decline in inflation stalls or goes in the opposite direction, it would be a clear sign that monetary authorities have more work to do, he said.
A day earlier, he said there was no need for authorities to raise interest rates any further and that monetary policy was sufficiently suppressive to bring inflation back to the authorities’ 2% target.
