ALLHAMING/LINZ/VIENNA. Last Saturday the world premiere of the Falco musical “Rock me Amadeus” took place at the Ronacher in Vienna. Eleven-year-old Jakob Blaimschein from Allhaming was also there in the role of young Falco. This is the third musical engagement for the bright boy. Reason enough to introduce him in more detail.

Jakob Blaimschein is just eleven years old, but he already acts like a professional on stage. There’s no trace of nervousness, he just thinks it’s “really cool” to be able to play in front of a big crowd. A few days ago, the Allhaminger’s young career reached a new high point: he was part of the premiere cast of the new Falco musical “Rock me Amadeus” at the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien (VBW). He will take on the role of young Falco in the Ronacher until June 2024.

Career start in Linz

Jakob Blaimschein came to the musical by chance. He found out regarding the private musical school Starwalk Academy in Linz through a friend three years ago and was trained there in singing, acting and dance. Then it happened in quick succession. Jakob completed castings and got his first role in the Linz music theater. Last season he might be admired there as Alexej in the musical “Anastasia”. He remains loyal to the Linz music theater: until the end of March he is one of the child actors in the musical “School of Rock” with the music by Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber.

About the dream of becoming a pop star

Jakob was really happy when he got the confirmation for “Rock me Amadeus” in June this year. In the first 15 to 20 minutes of the musical, all eyes are on the actor playing the young Hans Hölzel. With his best friend Billy, he dreams of one day becoming a celebrated pop star. Together with the ensemble, Hans sings the Falco song “Never More School” and informs his less enthusiastic mother regarding his career plans.

Logistical challenge

Jakob’s mother also reports on her son’s ambitious plans: “He really wanted to do it,” says Judith Blaimschein regarding Jakob’s efforts to get the Falco role. The two musical engagements in Vienna and Linz certainly pose a number of challenges for the family. Jakob, who shares the role of Falco with three other colleagues, will play six performances per month in the future and has to be ready for two more shows. The whole family is now assigned to drive the boy to Vienna. It is a great relief for everyone involved that the family has somewhere to live in Vienna. Jakob only stays until the final applause during special performances, otherwise he can leave the theater around 40 minutes following the start of the performance. The family is also happy that the school supports Jakob’s commitment.

Career wish: Actor

Similar to the young Falco, Jakob already has a concrete career goal: he wants to become a film actor. “If this is what he does with passion, then of course we will support him,” assures mother Judith. The parents are already extremely proud of their son. And unlike Jakob, he’s also very nervous when he’s on stage…
