Gisdol!
Sorry, I’ve never experienced such a whistle as a coach at FC. And I’ve been an FC fan for many years, including: B. can experience Soldo.
Lucky for Gisdol that he still gets a contract in the Turkish league. Strangely enough, he has fireman qualities, but I still think it won’t work.
In contrast to you, I don’t see it as black. A Katterbach had its best phase with us under Gisdol. In general, Gisdol knew how to use young players much better than Achim Beierlorzer. Yes, Katterbach and Jakobs made their debuts under him, but they were significantly more formed under Gisdol. A Thielmann made his debut under Gisdol, who is still with us today. Özcan was also used more than under his predecessors (following a loan to Holstein Kiel). Cestic was another player who is only known from Gisdol’s tenure and who fell into oblivion followingwards.
You also have to remember that we had a very unbalanced squad at the time:
With Bornauw there was only one IV that was really suitable for the Bundesliga, several LVs that mightn’t play at the same time unless you put them on DM/ZM/LA. Besides Skhiri, not a mature DM (Özcan and Elvis weren’t strong enough yet). Completely forgettable. Speaking of which, forget: World-class transfers like Max Meyer or Emmanuel Dennis.
I think people are drawing too bad conclusions from the Gisdol era and it’s getting too emotional. But this isn’t the first time that one or two Kölle fans have had their eyes turned red when something goes wrong. He wasn’t an outstanding or particularly good Cologne coach, but he didn’t make us worse. And the FC still benefits today from individual positive aspects in terms of youth development during his time in office.
I see it very similarly, our transfers back then were a mess and the team was completely unbalanced. He still led us to stay in the league. I think both sides can’t go wrong with a contract until the end of the season. He can be a firefighter, but as he develops it, it often becomes thinner over time – as we have already seen here and elsewhere. But if it looks as black there as MrFutbol sketched, then there’s nothing to lose for Gisdol there.
