The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle, expressed her concern and fear regarding her children, Archie and Lilibet, using social media in the future, during a special event for World Mental Health Day held yesterday in New York City.
Meghan attended the event, accompanied by her husband, Prince Harry, to talk regarding their own experiences with social media, and their fears regarding the future of their two young children.
Megan, 42, said: “Although our two children are still very young, Archie is 4 and a half years old, and his sister Lilibet is only two and a half years old, we see that social media will not disappear from the public scene in the near future.”
She added: “Time flies quickly, and I know that they will be exposed to social networking sites one day.”
Speaking, Meghan described her role as a mother as “the most important thing in her life” apart from being Prince Harry’s wife, and continued, “I feel lucky because our two children are still very young, but I am really worried regarding what’s next.”
The Duchess of Sussex admitted that she burst into tears because of the “devastating” experiences that a number of parents shared with her and her husband, Harry, last year, during a panel discussion with parents whose goal was to create a safer space for young people on the Internet.
It is noteworthy that in March 2020, the Dukes of Sussex announced their withdrawal from social media completely, as they issued a statement in which they confirmed that they wanted to begin a “new chapter.”
