A man suspected of several fires and acts of vandalism was arrested on Monday by police in the Marlow area (Uccle/Auderghem/Watermael-Boitsfort). The information, reported by the newspaper La Capitale, was confirmed by the Brussels public prosecutor’s office. “The person was released following being heard by the magistrate on duty,” said the prosecution, which clarified that the investigation was continuing.
According to La Capitale, the man was apprehended Monday morning in a pizzeria on Avenue Oscar Van Goidtsnoven in Uccle while he was committing depredations there. He is a 39-year-old man who probably suffers from psychiatric problems. The man was wanted because he is suspected of having damaged around a hundred intercom cameras and a dozen parking meters using a gas burner in the area of rue Vanderkindere in Uccle.
