Trade unions will inform works councils at seven regional conferences from October 12th to 16th

Vienna (OTS) In the collective bargaining negotiations for the approximately 200,000 employees in the metal industry, the second round of the trade unions PRO-GE and GPA with the Trade Association of the Metal Technology Industry (FMTI) was interrupted without result on Monday, October 9th. The unions are demanding 11.6 percent more wages and salaries. In the negotiation on Monday, the FMTI offered 2.5 percent and a one-off payment of 1,050 euros. “This is disrespectful to the employees, who have been able to afford almost ten percent less since the deal last year and therefore urgently need fair and permanent wage and salary increases,” criticize the negotiators on the employee side, Reinhold Binder (PRO- GE) and Karl Dürtscher (GPA) sharp.

The unions will therefore inform the works councils of the entire metal industry in seven regional conferences from October 12th to 16th regarding the negotiations and propose the calling of works meetings. The event begins on October 12th with a media-public conference of works councils from Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland with the chief negotiators Reinhold Binder (PRO-GE) and Karl Dürtscher (GPA) in Sankt Pölten.
