Vienna (OTS) – At the Curia meeting of resident doctors in Vienna on Monday, October 9, 2023, it was possible to overcome the months-long standstill and establish a long-overdue dialogue. With combined forces and joint efforts, decisive steps were taken to pave the way for a better future for resident doctors in Vienna.
Thanks to many clear and sometimes even unanimous decisions, applications that had built up over the last few months were processed in more than 7 hours.
“The Curia has finally worked productively once more for a long time. I would like to thank the representatives of the constructive groups for their commitment and dedication. The deadlock in the Curia has been resolved impressively,” says First Deputy Curia Chairwoman Naghme Kamaleyan-Schmied with satisfaction. A central point of the resolutions was to set an important course for the upcoming negotiations on the health insurance contract, a topic of top priority for the majority in the Curia.
During the meeting, Georg Braune was elected as the second deputy chairman of the Curia. This position had not been elected since Mo Pacala resigned in March. Steven Moayad was also appointed Curia Finance Officer. In the resolutions made, the Curia Committee on the Equip4Ordi case was also unanimously extended and Yvetta Zakarian’s ban on working in the medical radio service was lifted.
The next regular Curia meeting will take place on October 16, 2023, at which a successor to the resigned Vice President and Curia Chairman will be elected.
“The Curia is able to act once more. Today’s Curia meeting showed that the representatives of resident doctors in Vienna are determined to overcome differences from the past and face the upcoming challenges and opportunities with renewed commitment and common focus,” sums up Kamaleyan-Schmied.
