The common union front (ACV, ACLVB, ABVV) blocked access on Monday to the terminals of LBC Tank, a specialist in the storage of chemical and petroleum products, in the port of Antwerp. Trade union organizations are calling on their members to go to the picket line once more on Tuesday morning, said the secretary of the socialist union ABVV, Levi Sollie.
The dismissal of a colleague is at the origin of the social movement, according to a press release signed by the union common front. “A delegate from the Christian union was dismissed by management”, we can read. “It is unacceptable for anyone to be targeted in this way.”
According to the unions, LBC management wants to “make unionization within the company impossible”. The common front demands that the dismissed colleague be reinstated in his job and that he regain his position as delegate.
No one might be reached Monday evening at the headquarters of LBC, which has its headquarters in Rotterdam.
