Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Education, President of the General Sports Authority, Vice President of the National Olympic Committee and Head of the Executive Office of the Committee, said that Emirati sports achieved historic achievements in the 19th edition of the Asian Games following the UAE delegation won 20 colored medals (5 gold, 5 silver, and 10 bronze). ), in five different games: jiu-jitsu, judo, equestrian, cycling, and karate.
His Excellency said that these achievements reflect the growing development of Emirati sports at the present time, following achieving third place in the Arab world and 16th in the general ranking table for the tournament, pointing out that: “The honorable results of the Emirati delegation during the tournament are consistent with the ambitions of our players, as they are the best in the history of the UAE in terms of games tournaments.” “The complex reflects the progress of Emirati sports and heralds a more prosperous future for it in light of the unlimited support that this vital sector enjoys from our wise leadership, and the great interest that the National Olympic Committee, headed by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, gives to all sports.”
He explained: “These achievements reflect the continuous work of the Emirati sports federations and committees to reach the podiums on the continental and global levels, and we look forward to these results being an incentive for our players and national teams to achieve more distinguished achievements during the upcoming sporting events.”
He said, “We are proud of the unprecedented achievements in the (Asiad) and raising the UAE flag high in this prominent continental forum, which confirms that the UAE sports development process is on the right path.”
His Excellency stressed that the success of the UAE athletes during the tournament is the result of concerted efforts between all partners in the sports sector to achieve the visions and aspirations of our wise leadership to advance the sports sector in the Emirates to new levels, in line with the objectives of the National Sports Strategy 2031, and expresses the effective and sustainable impact of sports in enhancing soft power. “For the UAE, regionally and globally, and reflects the status of sports as a main focus in the country’s vision for the future.”
His Excellency praised the distinguished harvest of the jiu-jitsu team, which was crowned with a historic tally of 10 colored medals (4 gold, 3 silver, and 3 bronze), as the UAE topped the overall standings of jiu-jitsu competitions in the Asian tournament, and controlled half of the game’s medals during the tournament.
