[SAPOD]Today’s “Space Image”. We introduce characteristic images introduced by sorae in the past, attractive images released by space agencies of various countries, and images submitted by space astronomy fans and experts. This is “Supernova Remnant ‘RCW 86′” which was introduced in the article on July 7th. A supernova remnant is an astronomical object observed following a supernova explosion occurs in a massive star with a mass more than eight times that of the Sun. The supernova that left RCW 86 may have been witnessed by humans more than 1,800 years ago. According to the National Optical and Infrared Astronomy Laboratory (NOIRLab) of the National Science Foundation (NSF), which released the image, a “guest star” appeared in the same region as RCW 86 in 185 AD and lasted for regarding eight months. There is a record in the Chinese history book “Later Han Shu” that shows that it was observed continuously for many years. A guest star is a celestial object that appears to suddenly appear, such as a comet or a supernova. The guest star recorded in the Book of the Later Han in 185 is thought to have been a supernova, so it is now called “SN 185” (SN stands for Supernova). It is said to be the oldest recorded supernova.Read original article
