The motto “Learn and live Italian” is very important at Soggiorno. In addition to language courses in small groups, the new Italian language school in Linz also offers cultural lectures, film evenings, concerts, conversation groups and more. Another film evening is on the program on October 11th.
The Soggiorno is once once more inviting you to one of its popular Italian film evenings on October 11th. This time you can see the comedy “Welcome to the South”. The Italian megahit is Italy’s answer to “Welcome to the Sch’tis”. In a devastatingly funny way, the film tells of the surprises that one can experience when the facade of prejudice begins to crumble.

The postal worker Alberto (Claudio Bisio) is no longer interested in working in a small post office in the northern Italian province and his wife (Angela Finocchiaro) is also drawn to a metropolis. So the move to vibrant Milan is being pushed forward. But since everyone naturally wants to go there, Alberto cheats: He claims to be disabled. When the fraud comes to light, punishment follows immediately and Alberto is transferred to southern Italy. An absolute nightmare for every northern Italian, as southern Italians think there are only thugs, mafiosi and mountains of rubbish on the streets. And no one can understand the Italian of their compatriots from the south anyway. But Alberto has to quickly revise his prejudices. He comes across a picturesque place full of lovely people and finds a really good friend in the postman Mattia (Alessandro Siani). But there is still one problem: his family and friends at home believe he is living in extreme misery.

The film evening will take place on Wednesday, October 11th, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Soggiorno, the Italian living room on Stockhofstrasse. At the beginning there is an introduction to the cultural and social background. The film is shown in Italian with Italian subtitles. Afterwards, participants have the opportunity to take part in the discussion and ask questions. The film evening offers the opportunity to improve your Italian in a cozy atmosphere with like-minded people.
