The Dominance of the San Francisco 49ers and Philadelphia Eagles: NFL Week 5 Recap

2023-10-09 06:10:28

Aside from the Los Angeles Rams, who lost by just seven points three weeks ago, every team that has faced the San Francisco 49ers has suffered heavy losses since the start of the season. Sunday, during the fifth day of the NFL, it was the turn of the Dallas Cowboys, despite having had a good start to the championship, to be punished (42-10). Brock Purdy, the California quarterback, threw four touchdown passes, including three to his tight end George Kittle, while Dak Prescott, the Texan QB, suffered three interceptions.

The Philadelphia Eagles, finalists of the last Super Bowl, are also having a great first part of the season. Sunday, they won their fifth victory in as many matches, once morest the Rams (23-14). During this meeting, Los Angeles recorded the return of Cooper Kupp, its star receiver, who had not played for almost a year, due to injuries to an ankle and then a hamstring.

Jacksonville s’offre Buffalo

The Jacksonville Jaguars pleasantly surprised last season, reaching the play-offs, following several struggling years. But, in the current championship, they were not yet convincing Sunday, in London, the Florida franchise finally scored a nice coup, beating the Buffalo Bills (25-20), candidates for the Super Bowl. Travis Etienne, the Jaguars runner, rushed for 136 yards and the defense limited Buffalo’s ground game to just 29 yards. The Bills had one last possession to win, but receiver Stefon Diggs committed a fumble.

Corrected last week by Buffalo, the Miami Dolphins reacted well by dominating the New York Giants (31-16). Runner De’Von Achane (151 yards) and receiver Tyreek Hill (181) had a blast. Just like the Miami defense which managed seven sacks, causing the exit of Daniel Jones, the New York quarterback, hit in the neck. The Detroit Lions continue to seduce. They corrected Carolina (42-24), signing a fourth victory in five matches. The Panthers are the only team yet to have won this season.

Victories for Kansas City and Cincinnati

The Cincinnati Bengals, one of the best teams in the NFL, however struggling since the start of the championship, beat Arizona (34-20), with three touchdown passes from Joe Burrow to Ja’Marr Chase. The Kansas City Chiefs, defending champions, won in Minnesota (27-20). Little scare for Travis Kelce, Kansas City’s star tight end, who was released following an ankle injury. But he was able to return to the game and scored a TD.

The Indianapolis Colts beat Tennessee (23-16). They found Jonathan Taylor, their star rider, who was negotiating a new contract. But it was Zach Moss who stood out with 165 yards covered and two touchdowns. Finally the New Orleans Saints crushed New England (34-0). The Patriots lost the ball three times, missed a field goal and were forced to call on their punt eight times. Four teams were off this Sunday: Cleveland, Seattle, Tampa Bay and the Los Angeles Chargers.
