Milei, Bullrich and Massa again with strong crosses

In the run-up to the October 22 elections, the second presidential debate in which the five candidates participated took place at the Faculty of Law of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). Javier Milei, Patricia Bullrich, Sergio Massa, Juan Schiaretti and Myriam Bregman met once more following the meeting that took place in Santiago del Estero. Each one sought to take advantage. Who won?

Like last week, no one managed to keep the title of sole winner, and the most spicy crosses were once once more distributed between Milei, Bullrich and Massa.

The libertarian sought not to make mistakes, but referred to the issues on his agenda that generate the most controversy, such as the sale of organs, the free carrying of weapons and the refusal to recognize climate change.

Bullrich, for his part, hardened his position in relation to the first meeting, and sought to be more forceful with his criticism of Massa and Milei, sometimes in a very colloquial tone.

The Minister of Economy, meanwhile, had to dodge as best he might the criticism he received from all sides regarding inflation and macroeconomics, and insisted on choosing the libertarian candidate as his main opponent.

At the presentation, all but Bregman condemned the Hamas terrorist attack in Israel.

The first topic was security in which Bullrich warned regarding Milei’s proposal for free carriage, to which he later stated: “I regret that, in the same way as in the previous debate, you lie regarding what I say. Before he did it with the pandemic, now he does it with the issue of weapons. I tell you, in case you didn’t understand, I know that you have people who distort my messages. What we say is: There is a gun law and what we have to do is comply with it. Because it cannot be that the criminals are armed and the honest ones are not. Additionally, I would like to know: you talked regarding eliminating laws through DNU or regarding wearing constitutional guarantees throughout the week. Is that the security model you want? What do you want, for this to be a dictatorship?”

It was not the only crossover between the two, since he later accused her of “murderous montonera”, being one of the harshest phrases of the night.

“Do you think you are going to change something with so many jets on your lists?” the former Minister of Security had asked him, in reference to the incorporation of the Gastronomic leader, Luis Barrionuevo.

“You can change your past as a murderous mob,” the national deputy responded to her, following this week she filed a criminal complaint once morest him for accusing her of throwing bombs in kindergartens during the dictatorship.

The crossing of Bullrich and Massa through Insaurralde

Bullrich also criticized the leader of Unión por la Patria, reminding him of the scandal that the mayor of Lomas de Zamora, Martín Insaurralde, who was on leave, was involved in last week.

“Massa you have been in the Government for 4 years, do not talk regarding Tigre, it seems a shame that you have been with the Government for 4 years and homicides increased by 70% in Rosario, all the drug traffickers were released, it generated the worst security crisis in Argentina. Who gives you your numbers? Insaurralde, who told you that the yacht was worth 500 pesos? You can’t do good security if your partners are corrupt and criminals. “You defended Scapolán, a drug trafficking prosecutor, so don’t talk regarding security because you don’t have the moral authority to do so,” he highlighted.

In response, Massa raised the stakes and recalled the case of Gerardo Milman, due to the complaints once morest the PRO deputy for his alleged involvement in the attempted assassination of Vice President Cristina Kirchner on September 1 of last year.

«With respect to Insaurralde I asked him to resign from the position immediately, and I asked him to resign from the candidacy. And we are not all the same. “You never asked Gerardo Milman to resign,” Massa snapped.

Other crossings of the presidential debate

The Minister of Economy also issued a warning to Milei, in another of the most outstanding moments of the night: “You’ve come this far, Javier, stop disrespecting women. It seems to me that beyond the fact that they think differently, they have the right to think differently than you and it seems to me that they show your authoritarian trait.

He said it following the liberal candidate had this phrase with Bregman in the Productive Development bloc: «If socialists knew regarding economics they would not be socialists. It’s your case, Myriam.

«Milei proposes a labor market where women have no possibility of development, where the youngest have to go to the precarious labor market and workers lose the right to paid vacations and compensation. And above all the things where we return to a regime of slavery, which is what she is proposing when she talks regarding 100 years ago,” Massa launched.
