Massive Fire Engulfs Warehouse in Ans: Liège Firefighters Respond and Secure Premises

Friday evening, shortly following 9:30 p.m., the Liège firefighters were called to a spectacular fire on rue Gilles Magnée, in Ans. A warehouse which housed several vehicles was engulfed in flames, numerous resources were sent to the site. The fire might be seen for miles around.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, the roofs of several hangars were already pierced by flames. The “black devils” worked on site for a good part of the night in order to completely control the disaster and secure the premises in the event of a collapse.

On Saturday morning, the Liège firefighters communicated that surveillance was still in place on the disaster site and that the system would probably be lifted during the followingnoon of Saturday.

At this stage, nothing is known regarding the cause of this large fire.

The Ans/Saint-Nicolas police zone was also on site. No rehousing was carried out but some preventive evacuations took place for volatile embers.
