Certifications Point to Imminent Launch of Valve’s New Steam Deck

According to the website of Quectelits FC66E module supports Wi-Fi 6E (6 GHz) and Bluetooth 5.2. As a reminder, the original Steam Deck only has 2.4/5 GHz Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0, despite its release a little over a year ago. In other words, it looks like Valve intends to make connectivity improvements to the Steam Deck, even though the 1030 model is only certified for 5GHz Wi-Fi in South Korea .

While it would be easy to insinuate that Model 1030 is a Steam Deck 2, Valve has repeatedly stated that it has no plans to release a more powerful Steam Deck until 2025. However, certification of Quectel does not plan comprehensive new radiation emission tests, implying that Valve wants to release the 1030 model quickly. To that end, SteamDB now contains three Steam Deck IDs, likely 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB SKUs. In short, the 1030 model is a sort of refreshed Steam Deck. Unfortunately, there’s no indication that the 1030 model is anything other than a minor update at this point.
